SHELTERED WORKSHOPS

Blue River Industries provides daily vocational training and work opportunities for persons with disabilities at sheltered workshops. Blue River Industries in Corydon and Salem contracts with local manufacturers in the community to perform piecework, including assembly, sorting, scrapping, packaging, inspecting and collating bulk mailings.

Persons with disabilities perform the contract work and are paid competitive wages for all work performed. Work at Corydon Industries includes woodworking, such as sawing, drilling, mitring, sanding and pneumatic nailing.

Corydon and Salem workshops are certified by the Indiana Department of Labor’s Worker’s Safety Initiative program. The Indiana Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program

works with Indiana’s employees, employers, and labor unions, to ensure workplace health and safety. Both Blue River Industry sites were recognized for their continued endeavours toward exemplary safety and health management systems.

ISO CERTIFICATION

Corydon Blue River Industries, and Salem Blue River Industries are ISO 9001 with Management Systems certified. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the source of the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 families of quality and environmental management standards and more than 14000 International Standards for business, government and society. ISO is a network of national standards institutes from 148 countries working in partnership with international organizations, governments, industry, and business and consumer representatives. ISO requires an annual audit and a recertification process every three years.

By successful completion of ISO 9001 registration with Management Systems, Blue River Services is clearly demonstrating their commitment to Quality Management and their desire to continually improve their management.

STATE USE CONTRACTS

Through the State Use Program with the Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (INARF), Blue River Services provides janitorial and maintenance services at the I-65 North Rest Park in Henryville. 

OFF SITE JANITORIAL SERVICES

Blue River Services offers janitorial services to area businesses. These contracts provide employment opportunities and training for individuals with disabilities served by Blue River Services, Inc. In addition, the crews provide mowing and lawn care services throughout the community.
